a New Addiction!

In this article found HeRe it discusses how China has declared Internet Addiction an illness and actually has a clinic for it. The majority of the patients at this clinic are forced to go there by their parents who pay approximately $1,300 a month for treatment! Some patients only spend four to five hours a week but their guardians would like to minimize that usage to zero, as they feel it contributes to laziness, and effects studying school work. Through gradual weaning off of the internet time, medications to boost happiness during other activities, military advisement (like boot camp), and even electric shock are methods used to cure the epic of internet.

Ok I have to admit that I am addicted to Myspace.com. I love to decorate the webpage with all of the codes to make different moving objects, videos, music, quizes, on my page to entertain my visitors. I will admit that my boyfriend banned me from Myspace and I felt a kind of withdrawl, I just wanted to sign on and start playing with the codes, I have sat for 4 or 5 hours straight at one time.
Once I didn't do it for about a week I slowly started back up again, and I lost most of the interest, by no means did I need hospitalization ha ha ha ha!! I think this is insane! I mean in a few years people will be going to college to become an internet therapist ha ha ha! Not to mention that 1300 a month is alot of money for treating an addiction which only has the side effects of being a little more lazy, less motivated, and possibly putting on some weight.
I know that Chinese people are among the healthiest races in the world, with all the veggies and such that they eat. Maybe the felt the need to maintain that reputation and that's why they opened this clinic. Just like alot of the blogs I post I have to say this whole thing is a HUGE waste of money!! I know that this topic will start to get more popular in the coming news but please America....say it out loud to yourself "Hospitalized for internet addiction", or "Electric shock therapy for computer usage", I know I can't be the only one who thinks this is nuts!!!

Alright I admit it I'm addicted to the internet myself, but it hasn't affected me to the point where I need electric shock therapy!? I don't even have a decent comeback for what I just read because its so incredibly idiotic. I know lots of people are becoming addicted to the internet but honestly is there a need for a clinic to cure that addiction? It's just a waste of money.

This was the most outrageous thing I have heard today by far...Do you know what I could buy for $1300 a month instead of an internet addiction. This is absolutely ridiculous. I know that our generation is lazier than the norm, but therapy for internet addiction?...wow
