It's Worth the Shot!

It is obvious, that in 2007 younger generations are not reading books and magazines nearly as much as they were in recent years. Several technologies and social acceptance standards have raised, leaving the average kid little time to sit at home and read. Free subscriptions to online print are being given to students in hopes to intrigue them to read more. Internet users are getting younger each year. My five year old little sister can surf the net (parental controlled of course) and find what she needs (the Disney Channel website, usually). I think if students are getting free subscriptions to a foreign language magazine online, they'll check it out while they're surfing, and if they don't I think it's a great idea and it's worth the shot----Jennifer Edwards

Good post. You write well, and you've done exactly what I hope the blogs will do. Plus I tend to agree with your analysis.

My only suggestion is on form--the two headlines on Monday's post made me think they were two separate items.

It's best to have one head, then separate your post into paragraphs.

I wasn't quite sure where you got the first paragraph's information on the new effect of technology and social acceptance standards on young kids today. The article titled, "It's Worth the Shot!", says kids don't have much free time to read books or magazines in print because there is more technology in online media activities.

It seems to me that the online print subscription is offereed more so people can keep up that might lead busy lives where they are working on the computer more than sitting idle. Different formats are using convergence to spread news. The younger generation is becoming smarter and more advanced, and they test their intelligance by doing there activites like searching the web instead of just sitting and thinking. They are motivated to keeping busy, but at the same time lose sources that boost intelligence.

It was a wise move to start putting magazines and books online, but on behalf of the print publishers, it gives more power to the web and takes money and financial means of staying afloat away from them. However, they shouldn't complain too much because at least they are being heard.
