In an article writen by the editor of local news for The Spokesman Review it explains that the future of available news is currently in the process of undergoing some serious changes. Many print newspapers are planning to do away with their costly publishing and considering putting all breaking news on the internet, which allows readers to interactively respond to stories via blogging. "Newspapers will survive, but they'll look much different than they do today....containing mostly context and analysis," says Carla Savalli, the senior editor of local news for The Spokesman Review. News will be viewed much like it is on websites like YouTube (a video sharing website.) Several print news companines are considering this alternative because it enavitably saves moeny for the cost of paper and ink, and researchers feel it interacts with readers on a more personal level. Drastic changes are expected in the next ten years. You can view the article"The Future of the Newsroom" : here
Personally, I feel that news via the internet is a great idea. I think it will save money and it better organizes current events. I have heard many people say that they no longer watch the news because it's depressing or they're tired of hearing the same old things. Well, if news is put on the internet all one would have to do is search a topic and view a broadcast or report. I also feel that breaking news would reach the public alot faster, and punctual news is better news. People wouldn't have to wait until the next mornings paper or the eleven o'clock news to hear about a recent accident. On the other hand, personally coming from a family with limited means, my step-father reads the paper everyday, and my mom doesn't own a computer. While I feel it is a good idea as far as organizing, I dont feel that my step-father or anyone who enjoys reading should not have that oppertunity because they do not own a computer. If they were planning to recycle old computers and make them cheaper for the public and make paying for the internet cheaper....well....that's a whole other story. In conclusion, news via the internet is great, but lets not forget about the people who dont own computers.

What is this whole obssession with technology? I don't think the newspaper should be placed on the internet. Sounds pretty bogus to me. Not everyone has the internet or even a computer. Well most people do have a computer but it's sometimes a huge headache to even get on the computer. First you have to turn it on, then you have to wait for everything to load, then you must pray that your internet isn't down. That's why they call it the newspaper because it's news on a paper! If they do make it available on the internet they must definitely change the name. Maybe make it Internews because it will be news on the internet. Ha!
I agree and disagree with the newspaper being on the internet. Like Ashley said it is called a newspaper for a reason because it is news on a paper. I think that it would be great idea for the community because it will be less expensive and not as costly to produce that many papers a day. Another factor that comes into it is saving trees and paper. I think that being on the internet is a great thing, but also has become somewhat crazy. I was without the internet for 4 days last week and thought I was going to die. I think it is ashame how our society has come to rely on computers. So the flip side is you would get late breaking news and easier to access to.
The other argument is that even though there are many people who do have computers there are also some who do not have one. So I think that it would be unfair for a not so wealthy family not have a computer and not being able to know what is going on in the world. There are alot of people who follow that, and I still think that it should be accessible for everyone to be able to read.
If you are going to put that new newspaper on the internet then make it so everyone can go on and read the news, and most of all make it fair.
